I caught my first carp in 1956 (well it was landed by my Dad) at the age of 5, a 3 3/4lb mirror caught at Horton Kirby lakes (Kent) and I started carp fishing seriously in 1963 mainly fishing the DDAPS waters (Dartford area) and other Kent waters through to the mid 1980's. Subsequently my dedication to carp fishing was then shared with golfing. Although I still continued to fish through to the mid 90's on other UK waters, it was not until the late 90's that I decided to try some French waters. Following some good trips to a number of lakes and having caught a couple of 50's (biggest 59lbs) and plenty of 40's, I was somewhat disillusioned following 2 trips to different venues, where basically I felt I had been conned by the booking agent! I decided that there was definately a market in France for lake operators who would be honest to potential visitors, why try and con people?
If you haven't got the fish you advertise, people will realise that and the word quickly spreads around the carp world!
We have now been in France since January 2002 and having completed our 7th season at Moulinots, we feel that we do offer a quality venue, a view which seems to be shared by the 200 regular customers who return each year!
My biggest common at Moulinots (so far) at 52lbs.
Her (Kathy)
Undisclosed age (naturally), Kathy knows what it is like to be married to a carp angler and has become famous for her cooking for the anglers at Moulinots. We have no control over the fishing, but the high standard and quality of meals is something that all of the anglers have enjoyed to date and hopefully will continue to do so.
